AdvocateWell is a justice-collective working to remove systemic barriers to health, wellness, and well-being by building people power, empowering communities, and powering justice.

Mission

Our mission is to struggle along-side community-based organizations, on a grassroots level, to bring about national change and create the conditions for all people, in all places, at all times to be free.

We cannot be free, healed, or whole if we are over-policed and unhoused, if access to healthcare is only offered to the few, and if our nation continues to engage in a politics of death-dealing. Our work and advocacy comes from a spiritual place. Should we get the opportunity to live until tomorrow, it is my goal that AdvocateWell has bought us a little bit of time, giving us a little taste of justice. ”

Our Focus Areas

  • Racial Justice

    Advocating for racial equity, abolishing the carceral state, and reparation for the descendants of chattel slavery, promoting radical community building by directly resourcing historically marginalized communities.

  • Gender Justice

    Promoting gender equality, ending gender-based violence, and advancing reproductive justice, including access to gender affirming care, bodily autonomy, access to abortion and contraceptives.

  • Economic Justice

    Fighting for fair wages, affordable housing, universal basic income, the right to unionize and collective bargain and access to free quality healthcare.

  • Environmental Justice

    Addressing the direct impact of the climate crisis, promoting sustainable development, protecting natural resources, and decreasing reliance on fossil fuels.

  • Immigration Justice

    Fighting for immigrant rights, advocating for comprehensive immigration reform, and resisting xenophobia.

  • Global Justice

    Struggling against US Empire by supporting policies that eliminate the death dealing of arms sales to nations willing to engage in genocide.

Some of What We Do!

  • Direct Action

    This involves using resistance to disrupt the operations of systems of oppression and to draw attention to issues that are often ignored by those in power.

  • Policy Advocacy

    This involves advocating for changes to laws and policies that perpetuate violent systems and conditions of oppression. Through policy advocacy we attend to push for reforms that address the root causes of social, racial, economic, and environmental injustices.

  • Education and Training

    Through workshops, training, and other educational initiatives, we help people understand the complex systems of oppression that we’re up against and develop the skills, tools, and knowledge needed to effectively challenge those systems.

  • Legal Support

    This includes building a team of pro-bono lawyers and legal advisors to provide legal representation to individuals and groups who are fighting against injustices, as well as advocating for changes to laws and policies that perpetuate oppression.

  • Mutual Aid

    This involves building networks of support within communities to meet basic needs and provide assistance to those who are most vulnerable. Mutual aid can take many forms, such as community gardens, food banks, and other initiatives that foster cooperation and solidarity.
